For: I wanna Fallen Flower
For: I wanna Fallen Flower
Seems like a sequel of Rising Flower. They share plenty of similarities (Namely the music, the lack of death sound, and the tilesets are almost the same, but recolored). It's quite hard, mainly at the last saves. There are some interesting jumps here and there, as well. Would recommend, maybe.

1-screen needle. Cool music and nice visuals, but although the jumps aren't very common (Most of them are still common, just not too common), they aren't really outstanding. There are some annoyingly hard saves, but most of them are fair. Would recommend, if you have nothing else to play.

For: I wanna be the Guy(本家)
For: I wanna be the Guy(本家)
Rating based on hard mode, because legend says it's the intended way for the game to be played.
It's the root of many fangames, and this is clearly seen. It's the root of the fangames with secrets that are unreasonably hard to find (Dracula's path. Finding this thing by yourself is just terrible. And that to not mention the fake walls and other fun stuff). It's the root of the fangames with huge amounts of flying spikes at the same save (Ghosts and Goblins. Gotta love this stage). But it's also the root of the fangames with good traps. And of the fangames with fake traps. This game has many things that you'll see in other fangames. It even has some needle-ish jumps.
But let's get straight to the point. Everything in this game is a hit-or-miss (Almost always it's a miss). When it comes to level design, you'll find most of the hits at the Fortress of the Guy. The Entrance of the Guy had some awesome visual effects, and was quite intimidating. The Labyrinth of the Guy was frustrating, but it wasn't unfair (As much as it seems like it). The only things I disliked in this stage were the Arkanoid part (Doing this every single time only to die at the next mini-game, where you ride a plane with an annoyingly big hitbox. Totally not boring) and the Final Tower of The Guy (It's boring, and too easy when compared to everything else in the game).
When it comes to bosses, finding a hit is really hard. Mike Tyson is so easy it hurts, and also a bit too repetitive. The green guy is kinda well-made, but way too slow-paced, and you being able to step on these green guys that he throws from his mouth...It doesn't make any sense, how is anyone supposed to know that they don't kill you?!. His intro also takes way too long. Dracula is good-looking, and his attacks are nice, but he's way too RNG-heavy (He's the only boss in the game where RNG might be an issue, actually), often giving you impossible RNG. Bowser is way, WAY too boring, so boring it hurts, as it takes way too long, and the harder parts of the fight will only come at the end of the fight. Mother Brain is boring as well, it has way too much HP and you still have to go through a platforming-ish area before you can reach her, so it also takes way too long. Mecha Birdo is nice, actually, it might not look great but there's nothing bad about the fight itself. The dragon requires mashing if you don't want his fight to take a few hours, and he's just way too repetitive, it's like Kayin ran out of ideas when making him. He throws fire while moving up and down, then he takes enough damage, goes to the other side of the screen, and the same thing happens again over and over until you reach the chase sequence, which is probably the only part of the fight that might be enjoyable. The Guy is quite well-made, actually, but it becomes repetitive after a while, mainly thanks to the part where you have to make his bullets hit him.
That being said, this game has good points, and bad points, so why would it get such a low rating? "Macromedia Fusion [...] has stopped working". Dying 5 times without seeing this screen is very rare. And at the fight against The Guy, it becomes even worse (You don't even need to die, it can happen any time). Also, the controls are beyond bad. It's an old engine, sure, but still, doing a low jump in this game is hell (Try to jump at the height of a gate jump in this game. Seriously. You'll understand). You can only jump at two heights, somewhat high, or really high, and your double jump isn't much better than that. Sometimes, The Kid does double jumps even when you pressed shift only once. And the list goes on.
It might be a decent game, actually, but the bad controls and the huge amount of glitches make this game just unplayable. Wouldn't recommend.

The platforming is quite bad. Bad use of fake blocks and invisible blocks, generic traps, boring and repetitive saves, off-screen obstacles...That being said, the game did have a few funny traps. But that's the only good thing I can recall about the platforming.
The strong point of the game are clearly the bosses. They're remind me of the bosses in Time Machine (Extremely pattern-heavy, requiring the use of blind spots once in a while, as well as some quick-damage strategies), but not as good-looking (Aside from Gustav, perhaps). There are traps after you beat the bosses, but honestly, I don't really count it as a negative thing, that just means you get to enjoy the fights yet once again. Autofire is enabled in the game, so being unable to mash isn't an excuse.
Gustav and Tor are by far the best bosses in the game. Tor is the giant robot, and I'm quite surprised to see something Iji-related in a fangame. It features some attacks from the original Tor (Last boss from Iji), as well as some original attacks, and the best part, there are the background attacks as well. The epic music helps a lot. Some attacks might seem way too unfair, but you just need the right strategy. It's the only boss in the game that doesn't have a pattern, and he gets stronger as his HP gets lower.
Gustav is the last boss in the game, and he's really, really cool. His attacks, the music, the effects, the background and the tilesets, everything mixes up perfectly, in a way that is very rare in a fangame. This fight has an awesome atmosphere. But of course, the gameplay has to live up to it. And it does. It's a quite enjoyable fight, and the attacks are somewhat RNG-pattern-ish (They follow a pattern, but some parts of this pattern don't work the same way every time). In other words, this is a rather unpredictable boss, but still fair (With one exception for a combination of attacks that can give you impossible RNG), and surprisingly well-planned (Even though some attacks might seem like they give you more room to damage him, they actually don't). His intro is a bit too long, though. It takes so long that Gustav himself complains about it.
One warning, though: Don't keep Z pressed when you go inside a boss room, or you might become unable to shoot until you die (Or lose a lot of your shooting speed). It's an annoying glitch that this game has, I don't really know why.
Also, for those who don't know, the game DOESN'T END after the fight with the giant robot. After getting past the fake credits, you'll get back to the beginning, and the upper path will be unlocked. There are still a couple short stages until you get to Gustav. He is the true last boss.
I would say that surviving through the platforming is worth it for the bosses, after all, it's just bad, not incredibly bad (It could be worse). Would recommend it, as long as you can handle some annoying platforming.

It's another of 'those' fangames games. Yes, 'those'. It had the potential, it had the references, it had some good traps, it was even funny at some points, and some bosses had interesting concepts. It had all that, and yet...Yes, negative points for the gameplay. Save placement is random, sometimes there are more saves than necessary and sometimes you would love to have a save nearby, but you won't find any through the next 3 screens. Long screens mixing slow-paced gimmicks with tons of traps, bad use to fake blocks and invisible blocks, bad gimmicks, unexplained gimmicks, glitchy gimmicks. Flawed boss design (Koffing, Giygas and the weird demon are way too RNG-heavy, the duck doesn't even seem like a boss at all, Phoenix Wright is so slow-paced that it's boring, and the remaining boss is a chase segment with traps, which should say enough about it). Stuff like that.
It could be good. But it isn't. Wouldn't recommend.
