This was the second game I was truly proud of, after iw S Needle; now, I think otherwise.

After being around in the community for a while, my tastes in needle have changed quite a lot; this isn't what I like in a needle game anymore. The idea of going through the same maps with more spikes added each time is incredibly monotonous, and once one gets to the hardest version, I wouldn't be surprised at all if he/she would quit.

I still do like about 2-3 saves in this game, most found on the fourth time going through the first main room; however, everything else was basically me trying to make the game hard as opposed to fun. Half of the jumps was some form of an F jump, most of the time being buffed to the point to where it's completely dumb to grind out, especially in the one save that has a pretty difficult jump and a downwards plane following it.

The music choice, as was the case in a lot of my earlier games, did not fit at all, and was only there as a place holder.

I would like to point out that, while it was my fault for choosing 'monochromatic' as opposed to 'monochrome' for the title (both words have pretty different meanings) and for using values between black and white, there isn't really anything wrong with using black and white in monochrome, as that was what I was taught in art; plus, in art, black is a mixture of basically all colors. Just want to point that out.

Anyways, I'd suggest pretty much everyone to avoid this game; there really isn't anything special in it and it honestly is not as fun as it may look.

This is one of those games where the screens start off with no spikes then spikes are added each time you beat it. I really dislike this concept because the level design gets boring having to beat just slightly different versions of what you just played. I found most jumps to be very tedious and repeating the same weird super-F variation was pretty annoying, not to mention in the end you need to do a downward plane after one of them. Also without jump cancelling this game would be significantly harder. I did like the art style of the game, but overall I found the hard segments were trying to hard to be difficult which made them really unfun.

Wild difficulty curve. Suspect music choice. Black and white aren't colours, making the name "monochromatic" fallacious (as well as there being 2+ shades instead of just a single one).

Some segments feel difficult as though that's all they're trying to be, not caring about whether or not the player is having fun. People who enjoy doing repetitive, slightly altered versions of f-jumps and jumps structured for jump canceling (nothing mandatory but a hell of a lot easier to do with) will enjoy this game.

There are a couple interesting segments in it that don't rely on f-jumps and jumps that feel like success is luck-based. These segments are not very common here, but nevertheless were a nice relief.

Also, never, EVER review and rate your own game.
