The game obviously has a ton of work put into it, based on its very well done visuals, but it's painfully obvious that the game needed more polishing before its release. The first two worlds are filled with bad triggers that require trial and error to understand and get past, hordes of bullet sponge enemies that you get tired of killing, and clear difficulty imbalances with save placements. It gets better designed as the game goes on, but not by much.
The platforming is mostly unmemorable and boring, save for a few levels that incorporate mechanics such as stealth or poison water. Boss fights are similar to Time Machine and Best Guy style, but feel more grindy and less fun. Many of their attacks will kill you over and over again until you understand how to deal with them. While this isn't always a problem, the fact that most bosses gain a new attack pattern which is likely to instakill you on low health is unfair and only causes more frustration.
If you're a fan of Influka or Gustav's fangame styles, I would give this game a try. If you don't have the patience to stick through tedious segments just to reach some decent content, you probably should stay away.

It's sad when you see a game that has so much production value and style get ruined by awful traps and design choices that make you wonder what the heck the creator was thinking. Traps can be done well, but the main issue I saw with this game was how in nearly every screen, there is always a trap that will kill you and force you to redo the entire segment just to dodge the trap. There's a part of stage 2 where it is impossible to beat the screen until you redo it at least three times because you can't predict the trap and you will die. The game's bosses are mostly good too, they could use some tweaking on some attacks that are unbalanced, but overall they were fun. I wouldn't recommend this game unless you can tolerate unoriginal bullshit traps and overlook quite a few design flaws.

The graphics, boss fights, and overall polish is what makes this game great. Each stage plays very differently and even though a majority of the bosses are learn-heavy, they still are fun to play. Like others have said, the final boss is pretty damn hard, but certainly doable if you are able to reach it. There's also a lot of extra content, such as achievement hunting, items in the shop, harder difficulties and an extra boss, but not all of it was designed well. To purchase every extra weapon, you need over 6,000 coins, which you receive from beating levels or bosses. But the most efficient boss to grind, Mechacrab, only gives you 30 coins for beating him with zero deaths and under 1:30. It seems like you would need to play the game multiple times, grind bosses, and beat the insanely hard extra barrage boss to even have a chance at clearing out the shop. It's a minor complaint, but I would have liked to be able to play around with the other guns and features on a casual playthrough. Other than small design flaws and the game being slightly short, there really isn't much else wrong with this game. Give it a shot if you want a fresh feeling fangame with a ton of content.
EDIT: After trying out most of the extra content, my opinion on this game changed a bit. It does actually have quite a bit of length added like the extra boss, old bosses from Time Machine 1, and secret bosses. Reina, the extra barrage boss unlocked after clearing the main game is a fantastic fight with fun, although learning heavy attacks and a really good song. It definitely is harder than anything in the main game, but is manageable. I did use a video to learn some of the patterns late into the fight, which made the grind go by much faster. I beat it in just under five hours. The returning old bosses are all fairly easy and not very exciting, but more optional content is still nice, I guess. The secret bosses are all very fast paced and are very simple once you get used to their attacks. I haven't looked into lunatic mode myself, but after seeing a few videos, it looks completely unfun and grindy, with platforming changed from good level design to a spike and trap filled mess. I would suggest to not bother with it. There is actually DLC made for this game, an extra world called Horror World. I couldn't find a download link to it, so I watched someone playthrough it on youtube. It isn't anything special, but there are a couple more bosses to grind out. I would give this game a difficulty of 45 without any extras, a 70 with all optional bosses, and a 95 with lunatic mode. I cannot recommend this game enough, it is criminally underrated and unplayed. For anyone wanting to play all the optional content, here is a pastebin with how to unlock and find them: http://pastebin.com/Lxdc8Xti

This was my second or third fangame. The difficulty curve felt balanced and smooth to me, starting out with really easy screens and eventually ending at screens that would take a fair bit of time. It has a good bit of content, my first playthrough of Cultured was just under 20 hours. That said, I really would have liked more bosses. The joke bosses in between stages are hilarious and the game's humor overall was pretty strong, but having only one real boss (that was mostly platforming) hurt the game a bit. Bifficult and the other alternate modes added were a nice touch too. Screen picks are pretty great, with just the right amount of joke picks added in. The overall Cultured experience was a blast, and this is by far the best medley that I've played.
